Caring for your leather

Included with each show lead order you'll find a container of leather conditioner. Use sparingly, as needed.

If you notice your lead becoming dry, stiff or if it has gotten wet, simply allow it to fully dry then recondition.  Apply by hand and rub into the leather or apply with a microfiber cloth to polish.

It can also be used to treat dry pads on your dog's paws, as well as other leather products in the home or car.

Nature's Butter is a patented formula, created here at Champion Show Leads and contains only natural food grade ingredients which are harmless to animals.  The formula is a tested and proven family recipe passed down for generations.

 NATURAL LIPIDS

Infused at low heat, natural soluble lipids complete the bonding process and delivery of vitamins for increased suppleness.

Where you store your lead is as important as the products you use to condition it.  Leather should not be stored in airtight containers, plastic bags, or non-breathable containers.  If your lead gets wet wipe it down, allow it to dry thoroughly and recondition.  Ideally it is not stored in direct sunlight or exposure to weather, but as long as you're conditioning it, it should remain soft and supple providing many years of use.

Below are other helpful items which can be found at your local tack store, the Mfg. websites or Amazon, etc.

Fiebing's Saddle Soap is their signature product and is used world wide on fine leather.  This cleans and lubricates to keep it soft which protects it's strength.

Depending on the exposure your lead has, you may need to rub a tiny bit into the lead monthly.  Their 3.5oz container should last for years.

Fiebing's Aussie Conditioner was used during the making of your lead and is recommended for bitter cold, very hot, or very dry climate conditions.  This contains a natural beeswax which will add a protective coating.

This makes a nice cleaning and care product for cordo hyde leads also.

Again, depending on conditions, you may need to reapply a tiny amount monthly but a little goes a long way.

Bick 4 is another good leather conditioner which is a more of a thin cream or liquid.  If you're applying conditioner with a cloth instead of your fingers, this will work well.

This is a wax free product and leaves less residue but it will need to be applied more often.

Passier Lederbalsam is a wonderful product and your lead was finished with this prior to shipping to you.  This keeps leather smooth, protects against moisture and will prolong the life of quality leather products.

A little goes a very long way.
